Museum Encounters

Durational performance, 2024. Conceived for the group show 'Systemrelevant' at Künstlerhaus Wien, curated by Günther Oberhollenzer. For the entire duration of the show a different person was invited by the artist to be present at the museum for one hour to have an encounter with visitors. Each participant received an artwork in exchange for their time and engagement. The set-up series of encounters between strangers turns the exhibition space into a social sphere, in which the human interaction becomes the artwork itself. The content of conversation is negotiated by the participants; the artist merely provides the infrastructure for connections to be made. For the visitors who are not actively participating, the situation turns into an exhibited social sculpture.
