The exhibition, Cities of Desire, is premised on a critique of the frantic imaging politics and culturalisation of urban space, as well as the neutralisation of political spaces through cultural means. It showcases artistic and grassroots place-making tactics, bringing together artists and architects who deal with the concept of place from a wide variety of perspectives, considering both the making and imagining of city spaces and their representative meanings.

An exhibition which introduces young Austrian art to Athens.
The affiliation of the past few years between Athens and Vienna has led to the forming of this exhibition. It is the first of a series of events that will be taking place in the near future. Installations, video, painting and sculpture will give us a taste of the contemporary art scene in Vienna. Each year a different curator will choose artists that have recently stirred the public interest.
The majority of the participating artists will be present for the opening. The aim of this exhibition is to strengthen and support the relationship between the two city capitals- Athens and Vienna and to project the contemporary art within both.

Curators: Christian Rupp, George and Dimitris Georgakopoulos. This exhibiition takes place under the aegis of Austrian embassy in Athens and the Ministry of Culture of Austria.
